11/30/06 - Welcome to the Holiday Season!!!

Last week we started our holiday season by reliving those glory days of the 60's when toys were toys! Highlights included our first foray into Christmas music and snippets of 60's commercials of popular toys of the era - Slinky, GI Joe, Lite Brite, Hot Wheels, and Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots. Ah, for the days when those babies appeared under the tree...

Now that the Christmas TV Specials will be appearing full force for the next few weeks, our show on 12/04 will highlight the best of the Specials from the 60s and 70s, including music from "Rudolph", "Frosty", "The Grinch" and more. We'll also throw out tidbits of info that you can amaze your friends and co-workers with on Tuesday morning...

Our show on 12/11 will highlight those classic Christmas movies that have become a part of the season.

On 12/18, it will be a mixed bag... We will be highlighting the best Rock and Roll Christmas songs, as well as taking any Christmas dedications and sending out Christmas greetings to your family and friends. If you would like to send out a radio "greeting card", send an email to rocknroll@wrlr.fm and tell your friends and family to listen from 7-10pm on 12/18.

But the biggest news of all....

On Sunday 12/24 - Christmas Eve, we will be doing an all Christmas Show counting down the all-time best Christmas music, plus we will be having exclusive reports throughout the show from The North Pole as Santa prepares for his ride! Hopefully we can get a few interviews with some of the Elves plus report on Santa's take off!! So gather the whole family around the radio for some Christmas fun! The time for the Christmas show will be announced on 12/04.

So stay tuned to Rock and Roll Revival and WRLR on 98.3 FM or www.wrlr.fm throughout the month of December to lift your Holiday spirit!

11/08/06 - All Request Thanksgiving Show on 11/20!!!

As a "thank you" to the loyal listeners of "Rock and Roll Revival", our Thanksgiving show on 11/20 will be an "all request" show, meaning YOU can determine what songs are played, and YOU can send out your Thanksgiving greetings, dedications, etc.

Please send an email to rocknroll@wrlr.fm prior to Friday 11/17 indicating songs, greetings, dedications, etc.

There is no limit, although if we get a flood of them we may have to weed out a few...

Also, the request lines will be open on the 20th, if you would like to request a song or give the dedication on the air yourself.

We will also be giving out some more great giveaways from The Improv, as well...

So send those requests in now, and listen to the show on Monday 11/20 from 7-10pm!!!

Happy Thanksgiving from Rich at "Rock and Roll Revival"!

11/08/06 - Sorry so late with the posts. I have been real busy with work, as well as with home improvement projects...

Our connection with "The Improv" comedy club is paying off big dividends for our listeners. We have had two winners on 10/13: Kevin and John, both from Round Lake, who each won two tix to see Bill Bellamy. We called Kevin on Monday night's show to get his review of the show, and Kevin gave the big "thumbs up" for both the club and Bill Bellamy. On our show of 11/06, The Improv came through again with two VIP parties for up to 8 persons for this weekend featuring Joe DiResta. Congrats to Karen of Round Lake and Steve of Grayslake who scored the parties. We will continue giving away tix for The Improv, so continue to listen, and call in to win.

We started a new movie review segement on the show. I haven't yet named it, but will have a name for it for the next show. We reviewed "Flag of Our Fathers" on 11/06 and we give it a BIG "thumbs up". Although it is graphic with war violence, it is very well done. I can see another academy award on the horizon for Mr. Eastwood...

The "Makeover" segement has been removed from the show. Voting was few and far between...

Our next show on 11/13 will feature "One Hit Wonders". This is a reprise of our show from August where we featured bands who had but one hit. The original show did not receive web play as the internet was down that night. We will be replaying those hits intermixed with a new selection of assorted oldies.

As I have not received comments on the blog, I will not be posting the set lists from the previous shows unless I receive an email request. If you wish a copy of the setlist, email me at rocknroll@wrlr.fm and I will send one out to you.

Keep Rockin'... -Rich

Join host Rich Starzec as he sets his “wayback machine” to the 50’s, 60’s, and early 70’s. Rich delivers the best tunes of the times on a silver platter, highlighting a particular year, artist, or event on each show. On the side, you will always get tidbits of info on the significant people and events as well as a countdown of top hits, his 4x4 (Fab 4) segment, requests and dedications. It’s another reason to look forward to Mondays!
