WRLR Facts
WRLR is an all volunteer-operated, community-based radio outlet. Our
staff ranges from area professionals and the politically active, to students,
housewives and folks from all walks of life.
We operate on frequency 98.3 FM and broadcast at a maximum of 96 watts
of power.
Operation is 24/7 and utilizes multimedia computers to assist with
programming and now facilitates streaming of our broadcast signal to the
internet for global coverage.
The Village of Round Lake Heights is home to the WRLR Studios which
is located in the building that was once their village hall and police
station, located at 629 W. Pontiac Court. Our transmitter tower is located
about a 1/2 mile northeast from the station at a higher elevation.
An additional studio for production, office space and a classroom will
be built as the building is renovated. Studio A is functioning at the
main broadcast facility.
WRLR's signal typically radiates out to an area 20 to 25 miles in diameter
from the antenna. With ideal conditions, however, this coverage extends
to nearly 30 miles in every direction - covering almost the entirety of
Lake County with our signal!
The station's signal reaches a potential 90,000 plus residents living
in the greater Round Lake area (including all the Round Lake villages,
Hainesville, Lake Villa, Grayslake, Lindenhurst, Ingleside, Long Lake,
Fox Lake, Antioch, areas of unincorporated Lake County and many others).
